At CRT, we are proudly supporter members of The Care Workers’ Charity (CWC). The CWC was founded in 2009. Their objective is to support all current and former care workers all over the country. As supporting members of the CWC, we wanted to show our support to our carers.

Their mission is “to advance financial, professional and mental well-being of social care workers by making grants, signposting to resources and providing access to services.” Since 2021 they have helped over 12,100 care workers, supplying them with grants. In total they have paid out £6.1 million.

16th – 20th of September

The Care Worker’s Charity set up Professional Care Workers’ Week, to help show their support and understanding for the incredible job that carers do. This is the 7th year of this weeklong celebration, dedicated to care workers and the essential services that they provide.

The CWC have organised a variety of virtual panels and information sessions. These sessions will be led by care workers, managers and other leading figures that work within the social care sector. These featured talks will be free to watch for anyone who would like to join in on the event.

Here’s a list of the activities that the CWC have arranged for us to enjoy and learn from:

The reason that this event is called the ‘Professional’ Care Workers’ Week is because we want to highlight the skilled nature that is required for those to have when they work in care. We understand that care workers often get unnoticed or less acknowledged than in other fields. However, care workers (like other fields) also require a diverse set of skills and have many important responsibilities.

Also, to those receiving care, ‘professionalism’ acknowledges the high levels of trust, feeling safe and dignified, accountability and transparency that comes with they care that they are receiving.

‘Wear It Orange’ Day

This year for CWC’s Professional Care Workers’ Week, we have organised a ‘Wear It Orange’ Day. This will take place on the second day of Professional Care Workers’ Week on the 17th of September 2024. We are encouraging all our staff and service users to spread the word and wear orange on this day. By wearing orange, you will be showing your support to our staff and carers all around the country. With this event we can help raise awareness for the incredible work carers do while show our support and thankfulness for them and raising money for such an amazing cause.
